  • OH is it ever tempting!

Took Caleb to track tonight...  Of all people, I ran into the real estate agent who we went through to rent this house!  Her daughter is on the team this year!  She was sitting and talking to another mom that I've known probably the most of all of them since her sons have been in track as long as Caleb.  We got to talking and I jokingly asked her if she wants to sell us a house now.  She said "Sure!" lol  Apparently we qualify for the money they give to first time buyers because we haven't owned a house in 3 yrs!  I had no idea!  And it can be used as a downpayment...that on top of the really good interest rates, and plenty of houses on the market...  Only problem is we'd have to decide we'd have to stay here. LOL  She doesn't sell houses out of state.   However, I may look into our options, and I would love to know what our credit rating is now that all our stuff is paid off.  I've been able to see our credit report online, but I didn't pay to get the actual score which I wanted to see.  When I told her we also have a year left here on our lease, she just brushed it off. lol  By the time we actually did anything, we'd only have a few months left and apparently it's not too hard to get out of it when you have the right help.   I mentioned our oh so lovely property managemet co. and the lady next to her laughed.  Apparently they have a reputation in the area and she'd heard of them, and it wasn't a favorable one.  I'm not surprised--I've looked them up online too. LOL  The agent knew about our first office being sold to the other and I'd mentioned things have gone downhill since.

I just find it highly ironic that I ran into her now...  I'm getting so desparate to move for several reasons, a year sounded like eternity.  Yet I don't want to jump into anything, like I mentioned in my last post, I'm being VERY picky with my next house. lol  So picky that I even told Dh I'm almost willing to go back to an apartment if I could get everything I wanted in it.   (And with the apartment selection in a metro area like this, that would be possible if we looked hard enough--and were willing to pay for it. LOL)  But it won't hurt to look at our options.  I *might* be convinced to stay in the area if I can find something I really like, especially given the job market these days the possibility of Dh getting something elsewhere isn't as likely.

  • What money qualifies as a downpayment? This I'd like to hear -- is it just a Texas thing? We haven't owned in over three years either and are nearly out of the bankruptcy thing.
