  • Today's appointment...

Three of us went to the dr. today... took awhile and I spent a small fortune on co-pays.   But I think we're done for awhile.  Ben went in for his 6 week follow up for his head--he's fine.   We also weighted him, etc. for his 18 mth check up early.  We didn't do any shots, his record hadn't been transfered from the old office yet (my dr. recently moved offices) and we had to wait for it to be faxed over.  I didn't want to wait around all day aftr our other tests to talk to the dr. so we'll just do make up ones if needed at his 2 yr check up. The doctor will be calling me tomorrow anyway with test results.

Caleb had his ears checked.  He's been complaining of his ears ringing for awhile now.  I suspect allergies is a psosible cause.  So we're to do Clariton and Mucenex to see if it helps clear things up.  We also did a hearing test to be sure there weren't any issues there.  And last but not least, we told him to lay off the ear phones. LOL  He's picked up his father's habit of wearing earphones while playing computer games with Chris.

Then I gave the doctor my abbreviated medical history and explained why I was in there to see him.  I've never been to our family doctor as a patient--the last time I was sick was...long before Jesse was born.  We were living in Fate so that was like 8-9 yrs ago!  Since then I've just seen the OB when pregnant and lung dr. for yearly check-ups.  I forgot to take my latest PFT results to put in my new chart there--after I purposely put it somewhere that I wouldn't forget to take it.   But I called home and had Chris read me off a few numbers to give to the dr. to give him an idea of where things were.  He noted now not so good they were.   He didn't even examine me, just sent me over for the bloodwork which is all I really needed.  Since stopping the Symbicort I've felt pretty good so I'm pretty sure that's all it was.  After the results get faxed to my lung dr., we'll decide what to do from there.  Since I just saw him recently and it's just a med change, I'll be able to take care of it by phone.  There is one med, Spiriva that my lung doctor's nurse told me has the same med or very similiar one to the combivent I'm on now, but it's a long acting maintaince one.  I'm hoping we can try that since I do really well on the combivent, I think it might be a good fit.  *And* it's not steriod based so that's a big plus for me.   If I'm going to be on this thing for who knows how many years (I plan to be around for awhile still lol), I'd prefer to avoid the steriods as long as possible.  Singular was another one my dr. mentioned wanting to try if symbicort didn't work, but I don't know anything about that one except that it can also be used for allergies.

Well, I gotta run, meeting in a little bit...just got a very tired Ben to bed.   He's only napped in the car a little bit today.  I still need to finish uploading pictures and write about our trip last weekend...
